Language visa for Germany (visa for attending a language course)
A language visa is an educational visa for foreigners who want to take an intensive language course lasting from 3 to 12 months. The course must include at least 18 hours of classes per week. In some cases, a language visa may be extended for up to one year.
With a language visa you can:
attend an intensive German language course
extend the visa for up to one year (from the date of arrival in Germany)
With a language visa you cannot:
work

course registration confirmation or a visa letter for the course
proof of funds — €11,208 per year (e.g., a blocked account)
health insurance for the entire stay in Germany
two photos
three copies of passport pages
copies of previous Schengen visas (if any)
motivation letter for attending the language course
